Monte San Salvatore
The funicular is located five hundred metres from the (E-35/A 2) Lugano-Sud motorway exit and 5 minutes from the Paradiso railway station. It offers convenient parking and its panoramic cars convey passengers to the summit in just 12 minutes. The funicular operates from morning to evening, March to November, with half-hourly departures. In summer, the last departure is at 11 pm.
The cable railway
The cable railway is at 500 metres form the Lugano-Sud motorway exit and 5 minutes away from the Paradiso railroad station; it has a convenient car park and you can reach the summit in just 10 minutes. It runs from morning to late afternoon, from March to November, with trips every 30 minutes. In summer the last trip is at 11.00 p.m.
Mount San Salvatore (912 m above see level) stands out majestically in the Lugano skyline and offers an outstanding view of the Ceresio lake, the plain of Lombardy and of the magnificent chain of the Swiss and Savoy Alps. The roof of the church is an outlook point offering you a 360° view

Dining with a View
Ristorante Vetta offers a beautiful panoramic terrace, the ideal place to sit down and dine surrounded by a breathtaking landscape. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and its cuisine, mostly Mediterranean, is perfect for warm summer days: Vetta truly is an oasis of peace only a stone throw away from downtown Lugano.
From the summit you can descend on foot, along a path leading to Ciona (Carona). Moreover, taking the excursionist paths of the area, you can enjoy all the peculiarities of mountain slopes walking through uncontaminated and regenerating areas.
You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the via ferrata on Monte San Salvatore. The route takes you across the north west rock face, with an elevation gain of around 150 metres. The via ferrata is over 250 meters long and is quite challenging: those who decide to try it need to be in good shape. The climb is fun and varied and its exceptional position offers amazing views.
